Introduction to Leadership
Curious about leadership? Want to be a better leader? In this course, we will investigate the historical paradigms of leadership development from the "Great Man Era" through the "Complexity Era." Additionally, we will explore how these insights help us understand and discern contemporary best practices for problem-solving, delegation, planning/organizing, and more.
What’s inside
Module 1
We begin our study with the Leadership Prototype Theory and move into the 4 E’s of leadership, understanding the leader and finally an examination of the difference between leadership and management.
Module 2
Introduces the student to the five leadership eras by exploring the leadership paradigm chart and the base elements of leadership.
Module 4
This module introduces the student to leadership styles by focusing on the work of Ted Engstrom.
Module 3
In the third module, students take a deeper dive into the development of the leadership discipline by examining the work of the major contributors to the disciplines development and growth.
Module 5
The final module introduces the student to the major tasks of leadership. These tasks include planning/organizing, problem solving, delegating and conflict resolution.
